Video tour
This video shows what it’s like to live in keyworker housing at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
Overview of keyworker housing
Narrator: Welcome to our keyworker accommodation servicing Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Churchill Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Metropolitan Thames Valley works with NHS trusts all over the South of England to provide convenient and affordable accommodation for the staff of some of the best hospitals in the UK.
Here in the Headington area of Oxford, we have 91 homes for hospital staff and other key workers wanting to live close to these three hospitals.
Our accommodation is literally five minutes walk away from the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
There are 51 spacious single rooms with en suite bathrooms where up to five tenants share a fully fitted kitchen diner in each flat.
A tenant describes their experience
Tenant: I feel both myself and my bikes nice and safe here. It’s nice, especially in winter, to know you’re coming home to a really nice, warm, dry place. And the convenience, so the convenience for work, the convenience for being able to pop back and forward to work multiple times during the day if you need to and the convenience for being able to get both into town and to other places like London.
Narrator: We also have 40 self-contained flats suitable for up to two people.
Tenant: Fantastic accommodation, I think. I mean, being a doctor, I have lived in many accommodations around the country, as you can imagine. And probably this is one of the best accommodations I’ve ever lived with regards to maintenance, location, and everything. So, once or twice whenever I had problem, maintenance people sorted it out immediately without any kind of delay.
Facilities
Narrator: All our accommodation is fully furnished and benefits from secure door entry. Cyclists benefit from two secure bike sheds on site. Wi-Fi is readily available, and there are various speeds to choose from.
Other payable services include an on-site laundry facility with 24-hour access.
On site, there is an accommodation office staffed by our friendly and helpful staff who can assist you with repairs and maintenance issues or any other aspect of your tenancy.
Local area
Narrator: There are a number of supermarkets and a range of banks, bars, cafes, pubs, and shops on London Road, 10 minutes walk from the site or five minutes on the bus.
There is a bus stop outside with regular buses to the center of the famous city of Oxford, where you will find a range of shops, restaurants, bars, and the Oxford train station. There is also a direct 24-hour bus service from Headington straight to London and also buses to Bicester village with its designer shopping.
We have been building and managing key worker homes for over two decades and are delighted to be able to offer these homes for you to enjoy.
