Summary: MTVH’s new leader commits to putting residents first and championing diversity and inclusion
Following the announcement of his appointment in May this year Mel Barrett has today joined MTVH as Chief Executive.
Commenting on his new role Mel said: “MTVH has an important role to play in providing the affordable and quality homes communities up and down the country so desperately need. With a new government providing what we hope will be greater stability and certainty on both funding and policy this is an exciting time to come on board.
Our residents’ wellbeing, satisfaction with our services, and opportunity to live well and thrive will be at the heart of my leadership approach. I’m looking forward to talking to as many residents as possible in the weeks ahead to hear first-hand what it feels like to be an MTVH customer, what we are doing well and how we can improve.
It’s a privilege to take up the leadership of an organisation where diversity and inclusion is embraced as a source of strength that improves decision making and delivery. This commitment as well as tackling racism and prejudice in all its forms are perfectly aligned with my values, and I will champion them with passion.”
Mel brings to MTVH a 30-year track record of senior leadership positions at organisations committed to the delivery of excellent customer service, the provision of homes, and building great communities. He joins from Nottingham City Council where he was Chief Executive, prior to this he was Chief Executive of Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, and he has also held senior positions at London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Oxford City Council and the London Development Agency.
Mel takes over from Geeta Nanda, OBE, who announced in January this year her intention to step down in the Autumn.
